Under Section 13B (2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, the BLO is appointed from among the officers of the Government. / Quasi government / local body. The preparation of accurate voter lists and the direct distribution of voter ID slips by the BLO also boosted voter confidence in the credibility of the election process.
The BLO helps eligible citizens to become voters and obtain voter cards. The BLO provides those various forms for deletion, deletion and correction of electoral name entries, performs physical verification, and reports to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
