GSEB Syllabus Less: Gujarat Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GSHSEB) decided to reduce the syllabus from class 9 to 12% for the academic year 2020-21 in view of the ongoing coronavirus epidemic situation. In addition, GSEB 10th examinations 2021 and GSEB 12th examinations 2021 will be held on May 21 and examinations for classes 9 and 11 will be held in the month of June next year. This decision was taken keeping in mind the course load on the students.
Talking about the decision to reduce the syllabus, state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said, "Schools have been closed since March and online classes are being conducted. Keeping in mind the difficulties faced by students and parents , We had four meetings with academics where parents are concerned. And the exam and syllabus were discussed with the students. We have decided that the exams for class 10,12 will be held on May 21 and class 9, 11 will be held in June. Keeping in mind the same concerns, we have also slashed 30%. Syllabus for classes 9 to 12 for 2020-21. "
According to the sources, earlier, students and parents had made a representation, demanding that the syllabus be rationalized, which eventually led to discussion and it was decided to reduce the syllabus by about 30%. This means that the exam paper will not contain questions from this 30% part. Officials said that this decision was taken so that the students are less stressful to study and they can prepare for the board examination.
However, to help students retain all the core concepts that will help them prepare for competitive exams, this particular 30% part of the course will be taught by teachers.
Subjects with 30% reduction will be sent to the District Education Officers who will inform the schools about this. Additionally, it will also be uploaded on the official website of the board.
