The Wahali Dikari Yojana will help prevent female feticide. Girls' education will be promoted and when the daughter becomes an adult, a large amount of money will be given for higher education and her marriage. For this new scheme Rs. 12 crore provision.
When the daughter enters the first standard, she will be given, 4000, after which when the daughter enters the 9th standard, Rs. 6000 will be given by the government. And when the daughter turns 18, the state government will give 1 1 lakh. Now who will get the benefit of this scheme? Poor-middle class families who have a daughter will get this, but only if their family income is less than Rs 2 lakh.
Who will benefit from this scheme? The poor, middle class will see the biggest benefit of this scheme as most of them do not educate their daughter so that they will be educated for financial gain, besides the amount that will come in 18 years will also work for their daughters' marriage, or more.
Work will also come for further education. When will the scheme start? The government and officials say that this scheme will be implemented this year.

This one lakh assistance amount would be provided when the girl attains the age of 18 years. People would be able to fill the Vhali Dikari Yojna registration/application form to avail assistance.
Vahli Dikri Yojana’ launched to save Gujarat’s daughters. The state in the budget on Tuesday allocated Rs 133 crore for the scheme, under which Rs 1 lakh will be provided to first and second daughters of a family on attaining 18 years of age, for their wedding or higher education. The DyCM told the state assembly house that the scheme, the first-ofits-kind by the Gujarat government, will help prevent female foeticide, promote education of girls, and provide a substantial sum to fund the the higher education and weddings of girls.
Sociologist Gaurang Jani said that government giving cash incentives for education of girls was good, but giving Rs 1 lakh for weddings at 18 years would incentivize parents to marry off their daughters, rather than allowing them to pursue a college education.
