The Job Profile of Dak Sevaks will include all functions of viz sale of stamps and stationery, conveyance and delivery of mail and any other duties assigned by Postmaster/Sub Postmaster including IPPB work in the Departmental Post Offices/RMS. However, the work performed for IPPB will not be included in calculation of TRCA, since the same is being done on incentive basis.He may also have to assist Post Masters/Sub Postmasters in managing the smooth functioning of Departmental Post Offices and do marketing, business procurement or any other work assigned by the Post Master or IPO/ASPO/SPOs/SSPOs/SRM/SSRM and other Supervising authorities. In Railway Mail Services (RMS), GDS has to handle the work related to RMS, like, closing/opening of bags, transport of bags from one place to other manually and any other works allotted by the RMS authorities.


Educational Qualification for Dak Sevak bharti : 

  • (i) Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics, local language and English (having been studied as compulsory or elective subjects) conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories in India shall be a mandatory educational qualification for all approved categories of Gramin Dak Sevaks.

  • (ii) Compulsory knowledge of Local Language The candidate should have studied the local language at least up to 10th standard [as compulsory or elective subjects] as declared by the State Government or as per constitutional provisions relating to the 8th schedule of Constitution of India.

 Educational Qualifications and Qualifications:


India Matriculation, Local Language and English (Passed as compulsory or optional subjects) Secondary School Examination Pass Certificate passed in any region recognized by Government of India / State Governments / Unions There will be compulsory educational qualifications for all recognized classes of servants.
Compulsory knowledge of local language.

Idence Residence: Candidate selected for the post of GDS BPM must take up residence within one month after selection, but before engagement as Grameen Dak Sevak Branch Post Master, at Branch Post Office Fish Village (State of Jharkhand). The candidate will submit a declaration in the application for this effect. Candidate selected for post other than GDS BPM should be in post village / delivery jurisdiction.

Crit Selection Criteria: Candidates submitted online will be selected according to the rules automatically generated merit list as per the rules. No weight will be given for higher educational qualification. Only the marks obtained in the 10th standard of the accredited board with a percentage of accuracy of dec decimal will be the criterion for finalizing the selection. Passing of all subjects is mandatory as per the standards of the respective recognized boards to consider the candidate for calculating eligibility. If the candidates get the same marks then the Merit Order D.O.B. (Age as merit), S.T. Women, S.C. Female, OBC Female, U.R. Female, S.T. Male, OBC Male, U.R. Will be taken as male. Candidate can select any five posts with preferred circle of applied circle / circles. If the candidate is selected in all the selections, the lowest priority selection will be maintained and all other entitlements will be forfeited. In case of mark list with grade / points, the score will be calculated by converting the grade with maximum points or multiplication factor (.5..5) against the grade.

Fee Application Fee:


General 100 / - for General / OBC Male / EWS Male / Trans Man candidates. Fee payment can be made on any major post office fee.
Payment of Female Fee is exemption for all Female / Trans-Woman candidates, all SC / ST candidates and all PWD candidates.

How to apply Apply: Eligible interested candidates should apply online through India Post Portal (OST Post.N.N.). Registration The last date for submission of online registration is 20/01/2021. There is only one registration for a candidate. The same registration number should be used to submit the application to any circles during the cycle.

  • 1. Candidates must ensure to go through the notification and instructions thoroughly and understood well before registering himself for applying online.
